Portable Installation
PasswordPod can be installed in the normal way on your computer using the
downloadable setup program and of course includes an uninstaller to make
complete removal easy. Better still, you can use the same setup program to
install it onto a USB flash drive. This is a great way to make your login
details portable between different computers as the program itself, together
with your secure data and personal preferences are all stored on the memory
stick. Just plug it into a pc in your office, library or wherever and you'll
have access to all your private login information on the move. You won't need to have
administrator privileges on those computers either.
To install to a USB flash drive, just follow the instructions in the setup
program and choose between the two different types of installation. If you want
to do both types of installation, just run the setup program again and make your
choice.

Note that if you buy a PasswordPod license and have an installation on both your computer
and USB flash drive, you'll need to enter your unique product registration code
separately for each, as they store the registration details entirely independently
of each other.
During the setup, you can choose to configure your USB flash drive to enable automatic launch of PasswordPod when
you insert it. If you choose this option, the setup program will create a file
called autorun.inf at the root of the flash drive. When you insert the
drive into a pc, you'll most likely see a list of possible actions and you must
choose which one to take. The action highlighted at the top of the list will be
to run PasswordPod. Whether this list appears or not depends on the settings on
that particular computer. If the computer is configured to skip the dialog,
PasswordPod will launch as soon as you insert the drive. Some antivirus programs prevent such
auto-run behaviour altogether.

Important: When you're ready to leave the computer, you should lock your data or exit the program before
removing the flash drive as this will ensure that all changes have been saved. If you remove
the flash drive without exiting the program first, PasswordPod will automatically lock your data
and shut itself down, but it won't be able to save anything to the flash drive because you've just
taken it out. In any case, make sure that you look at the system tray to check that the program is
no longer running and the padlock icon has actually disappeared before walking away.
